Because complex problems demand creative solutions

Congratulations to RACE Matters SLO County and Lumina Alliance, the selected Community Partner awardees from SLO County!

Aiming to uplift the creative workforce and improve community health outcomes, the Central Coast Creative Corps Program funds 23 working partnerships between community-based organizations and local artists, creative workers, or culture bearers for a one-year duration from September 2023 until August 2024. Each awarded Community Partner organization receives a $140,000 grant, of which $100,000 is to compensate an artist for work on the initiative, with $20,000 allocated for materials, and $20,000 to the organization for administration.

This program is funded by the California Arts Council and collaboratively managed by the Central Coast Arts Coalition, a collective of six local arts agencies: Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture (Lead Administering Organization), Arts Council for Monterey County, Arts Council Santa Cruz County, San Benito County Arts Council, San Luis Obispo County Arts Council, and Ventura County Arts Council.

Central Coast Artists Directory

As part of of the Creative Corps grant program, the Central Coast Arts Coalition has developed a Directory of artists, creative workers, and culture bearers across the region with the aim to foster creative collaboration between artists and their Central Coast communities. Although the Creative Corps grant is closed, opportunities will continue to be available to artists who have listings in the Directory, and it is free to join! Also, you can use the Directory to network with other artists and promote your work.
