Programs for artists through arts obispo

Open Studios Artist Tour
ARTS Obispo’s Open Studios Art Tour is FREE to the public—and one of the largest art tours in the country! Every October, approximately 200 artists participate throughout San Luis Obispo County by opening their studios for visitors to tour. Art in a variety of media and styles—from abstract and representational painting to wood, glass, metal and ceramic—is displayed and sold by artists directly from their working studios. Some artists have live demonstrations so visitors can see art being created and experience the creative process. Tour visitors plan self-guided routes by looking through the printed full-color catalog, the online catalog or the mobile-friendly map. Printed catalogs are found at various locations throughout San Luis Obispo County beginning in mid-September throughout the Tour. Artists get to keep 100% of profits from the artist tour!
Art After Dark
From 6 to 9 pm, downtown comes alive with new art exhibits, performances, music, and community. Visit dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces. It’s everyone’s favorite night of the month to celebrate art for free. On a typical Art After Dark, approximately 30 venues including galleries, restaurants, salons, and boutiques spotlight the best of San Luis Obispo County arts and culture.
Art in Public Places
Our Art in Public Places (APP) Coalition helps implement countywide policies for public art. Our mission is to advocate for art in public places, both public and private, for the cultural enrichment of San Luis Obispo County. A few of the projects that ARTS Obispo’s APP Coalition has directly assisted with are the permanent installations in the new County Government Center, Avila Beach, SLO Promenade, Old Town Arroyo Grande, Higuera St. Plaza and Tolosa Housing Development. The Art in Public Places Coalition meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month at 2 pm at the ARTS Obispo office.
The Hub
ARTS Obispo believes in the value of creativity, open minds and quality of life. The Hub is ARTS Obispo’s venture into a creative community space to help nurture and promote public access to the arts, arts in education, local art planning and collaboration while providing opportunities for artists and arts organizations.
