What is Art After Dark?

Every first Friday, hundreds of visitors converge on downtown SLO to see new art exhibits and add to their growing collections. With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, it's SLO's favorite night of the month to celebrate art for free! Though many shops are open earlier, Art After Dark officially starts at 6pm and runs to 9pm.

On a typical Art After Dark, over 20 galleries and non-traditional art venues (think restaurants, boutiques, and salons) spotlight the best of established and emerging local artists. They sometimes also feature the works of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. Expect sore feet and creative juices to be flowing from 6 to 9pm on the first Friday of the month.

When does it happen?

The first Friday of every month except December (due to the Holiday Parade). The last Art After Dark of 2016 is November 4. The schedule for 2017 is: January 6, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 6 and November 3.

Where does it take place?

The city of San Luis Obispo.

Also, Studios on the Park celebrates Art After Dark Paso, a fun tradition of art, wine, and live music-filled evenings at the start of every month (typically the first Saturday, in Paso Robles, CA).
